Kathryn is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Criminology and a minor in Classical Studies with Cum Laude honors. She continued her studies at St. Thomas University School of Law. While attending St. Thomas, Kathryn participated in the St. Thomas Law Review, serving as an Articles Editor. In addition, she was a member of the St. Thomas Moot Court Team. Prior to graduating from St. Thomas, Kathryn completed an internship with the Honorable Robin S. Rosenbaum of the Southern District of Florida. She further served as a Certified Legal Intern in the Appellate Division of the Law Offices of the Public Defender of the 11th Judicial Circuit, which included presenting oral argument to the Third District Court of Appeal. Kathryn graduated from St. Thomas University School of Law with Magna Cum Laude honors.
After graduation, Kathryn began her practice representing nationwide insurance carriers in coverage and claim disputes, including automobile and property, from pre-suit investigation through trial. She was involved in and directed project litigation for first-party personal injury protection claims, involving up to 700 files at various stages of litigation. Beginning in 2018, Kathryn focused her practice on the defense of property and casualty claims while a partner at a multi-state law firm. During her time on the defense side, Kathryn successfully tried numerous cases to verdict throughout the State of Florida.
After defending insurance companies and their insureds for eleven years, Kathryn joined Chavin Mitchell Shmuely in 2023 to begin her career representing plaintiffs and policyholders. She also previously served as an adjunct professor at her alma mater, St. Thomas University School of Law, where she taught insurance law.
Kathryn was born and raised in Boca Raton. She enjoys traveling the world and her Bernedoodle, Hank.
